Mmm Mmm Mmm! Ed's Lobster Bar

Manhattanites seem fiercely loyal to their lobster roll joints. And they sure have quite a good selection of them. The most popular ones being Ed's Lobster Bar, Luke's Lobster, Red Hook Lobster Pound, and Pearl Oyster Bar. I've had Pearl and Luke's, but even after 3 years of working a few blocks away, I've never tried Ed's, until my short trip back to NYC last Thursday.

These guys serve some big chunky lobster pieces with mayo over a buttery bun. Not the cheapest roll ($26 w/ fries and sliced pickles), but man was it good. They also make a perfectly cooked calamari in a light thin batter. That cocktail was also a life saver after walking around in 102 degree weather x_x.

Does Ed's make the best Lobster Roll in NYC? It's definitely up there- less creamy than Pearl but with more meat. Tastier than Luke's but more expensive. So yeah, it can definitely hang with the other popular choices. If you find yourself in the Soho area and you're a lobster fan, you owe it to yourself to swing by Ed's.

Love the new design, nice job! I've been wanting to do a redesign...

as for lobster rolls, I must say, Red Hook Lobster Pound has my vote =)

Ed's Lobster Bar prepares most of their dishes uniquely. Their lobster roll is also delicious but there are other restaurants in NYC that serve more delightful lobster roll.
