To a crustaceous day!...east coast vs. west coast
DAN:
Seafood can often be a fun experience with friends, especially when you goto the restaurants that give you a bag filled with cajun spices and your choice of crustacean to dump onto your table.
One of my favorite cajun seafood spots in LA is The Boiling Crab, which was recommended to me even before I moved here (Thanks Julie)! Here we have some oysters and 2 lbs. of crawfish. We opted to season the crawfish with all of their options (Rajun Cajun, Lemon Pepper, and Garlic Butter), known as “THE WHOLE SHA-BANG!” And it was deeeelicious! Chase it down with a beer and you have a fun evening of messy shells and tasty meats.
Be warned that wait times can get long, so be prepared to sit outside 30-45 minutes at the very least. Also I would advise to wear the bib, because it gets messy!
WENDY:
The words “lobster roll” written on a food truck is something you don't see everyday, even in NYC. So when I stumbled upon one (by fate, I'm sure), I just couldn't let this opportunity go by despite the fact that I was on a diet!
I opted for the Connecticut style (warm lobster poached in butter) while my coworker chose the Maine style (chilled lobster with mayo), all served on a buttered toasted bun. I have to say that mine (pictured left) looked more mouthwatering and definitely definitely tasted delicious! Look at all the big chunky pieces! and I even got one whole claw! This is one quick lunch that will surely satisfy your stomach and your mind.
So take your stomach on a seaside vacation by tracking down the Red Hook Lobster Pound truck, but first, a word of caution, you might not want to go back to work afterwards!
